Butterfly Basics Easel Calendar

Things have been a bit quiet around here.  Sunny days, school holidays = not much time to craft.  Stamp club was back this week so it was the perfect opportunity to crack open my new Butterfly Basics stamp set & matching thinlits dies.

I wasn't to sure about these butterflies when I bought them but after a few uses, they are growing on me.

Here is the easel calendar we created:

We used Blackberry Bliss, Naturals Ivory & Mossy Meadow. Quite rich colours for a more vintage look.   We stamped the butterfly on vellum & heat embossed it.  We also made a matching card.

To make the easel part of calendar I cut a piece of A4 card stock in half lengthways.  Folded it in half, then one side in half again.  This became the easel.  I then cut a piece of card stock 10.5cm x 14cm (the size of the front half of a card & attached this to the folded section.  You can see I put tape where you need to adhere the front to the easel section.

Then it was just a matter of decorating the card part.  Once that is done, you need to add an anchor on the base. I used post it notes but you can also use embellishments or card stock.

Sale-A-Bration 2014 Easel Calendar With A Twist

I recently held a special Sale-A-Bration day & it was so much fun!   So, for the next few posts I will be sharing a few of the projects.  There were 3 projects in total (the 4th was optional).  Today's post is all about my twisted easel calendar project.

I had seen lots of easel calendars & lots of twisted easel cards, but never the two together.  While browsing the Sale-A-Bration(SAB) catalogue I had a little spark of an idea..why not combine the two.  The stamps & DSP lend themselves well to it.

Here is the calendar.  It folds flat so it can be mailed in a custom made envelope.

Stampin Up! Up In The Air Easel Calendar Card

I have been having a play with some of my SU! Summer Mini Catalogue goodies.  Today I have used the hostess set called Up In The Air.  It has lovely soft lines with birds and branches and it is easily coloured in to create a pretty card.  I have been wanting to do an easel calendar card for ages and this set works well with this idea in mind.

I used Chocolate Chip cardstock for the base and  added Marina Mist, Whisper White and Bashful Blue for a soft feminine look.  The butterflies are from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die.

The little calendar tears off and this would look pretty on a desktop or by the phone I am thinking.

Stamp Set: Up In The Air ( SU! Summer Mini 2011-2012 Catalogue.)
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Marina Mist, Whisper White, Bashful Blue & Subtles DSP.
Ink: Early Espresso, Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi (leaves)
Cool Tools: Big Shot, Scallop Square Duo Die,Beautiful Wings Embosslit die, Jewels, Scallop Trim Border punch.  Non-SU mini Calendar.
Ribbon: Whisper White 1/4 " grosgrain ribbon.
