Stampin Up! Christmas Gift Card Holders

I have a lot of family I buy gift cards for and this is the first year I have made gift card holders.  Normally I put them in an envelope and they are very uninteresting.   I saw on a blog somewhere (I cant remember the creator sorry) these great gift card holders made with the Sizzix Top Note Die.  They are very easy to make and are really cute.  These could be adapted to any design not just xmas.  I can just imagine these done for any special occasion.

I have used real red for the top ones and  Christmas Cocoa DSP from last years Christmas promotion.  The bottom two are made with Letters to Santa DSP and Riding hood red.  As you can see there are two topnotes attached with a brad that swivels to reveal the gift card.
Real Red Santa Gift Card Holder

Here is one I have swiveled upwards to reveal the card.  I have added a small box for writing who the card is to and from.

Stamp Set: Jolly Bingo Bits, Contempo Christmas
Paper: Red Red, Riding hood Red Whisper White, Basic Black, Silver Glimmer paper, Christmas Cocoa DSP, Letters To Santa DSP.
Ink: Real Red, Riding Hood Red, Old Olive (leaves)
Embellishments: Silver and Brass brads,
Ribbon: Real Red 5/8" Satin ribbon, Early Espresso 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy & Safe New Year

Stampin Up! Up In The Air Easel Calendar Card

I have been having a play with some of my SU! Summer Mini Catalogue goodies.  Today I have used the hostess set called Up In The Air.  It has lovely soft lines with birds and branches and it is easily coloured in to create a pretty card.  I have been wanting to do an easel calendar card for ages and this set works well with this idea in mind.

I used Chocolate Chip cardstock for the base and  added Marina Mist, Whisper White and Bashful Blue for a soft feminine look.  The butterflies are from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die.

The little calendar tears off and this would look pretty on a desktop or by the phone I am thinking.

Stamp Set: Up In The Air ( SU! Summer Mini 2011-2012 Catalogue.)
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Marina Mist, Whisper White, Bashful Blue & Subtles DSP.
Ink: Early Espresso, Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi (leaves)
Cool Tools: Big Shot, Scallop Square Duo Die,Beautiful Wings Embosslit die, Jewels, Scallop Trim Border punch.  Non-SU mini Calendar.
Ribbon: Whisper White 1/4 " grosgrain ribbon.

Stampin' Up! Dasher Card

I have been busy making a couple of Christmas cards and here is my newest creation. Featuring the Dasher stamp from Stampin' Up! - don't you just I love his whimsical antlers and proud pose.   I have heat embossed the snowflake stamps from Snow Swirled in white on crumb cake and given the whole card a light misting in Vanilla Shimmer Spritz.

I have also made a little pillow box using early espresso and real red as a band.  I have made the topper out of Letters To Santa DSP and used a real red button and hemp twine.  These colours make this little box quite masculine but by changing the DSP allows you to convert the look to feminine.

Stamp Sets: Dasher, Snow Swirled.
Paper: Early Espresso, Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Letters to Santa DSP
Ink: Early Espresso, VersaMark, Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.
Cool Tools: Heat Gun, White Embossing Powder, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Hemp Twine, Real Red Button, 1" Circle Punch.

Bold Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Birthday Card

A good friend of mine had a birthday recently and I made her this card.  She loves bright colours, flowers and of course Stampin' Up products - who doesn't!

The card base is Melon Mambo, with Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie & Daffodil delight popping this flower right of the page.  I have used the new scallop dots ribbon in Melon Mambo and added a twist of the promotion ribbon from a few months ago.  The flower is created using scallop punches and the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch.

Stamp Sets: Teeny Tiny Sentiments.
Paper: Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Brights DSP.
Ink: Old Olive, Melon Mambo
Cool Tools: Framed Tulips embossing folder, Big Shot, Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die, Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch, 1 3/4 " Scallop Circle Punch, 2 3/8 " Scallop Circle Punch.

Stampin' Up! Beautiful Season Card

When I first saw this stamp I was not overly impressed.  Being a bird stamp I was shocked at my reaction - I love a good bird stamp!   But after attending stamp club and actually using the stamp I fell in love with it.  It looks great when it is water coloured.  And the vintage look goes perfectly with this little birdy.

Cherry cobbler cardstock with a touch of Mocha Morning Specialty paper, an antique brad and some cherry cobbler seam binding ribbon all combine to give this card a vintage look.  The little berries have been highlighted with a cherry cobbler pen & crystal effects to give them a shiny look.

Stamp Sets: Beautiful Season
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Soft suede, Water Colour paper, Mocha Morning Specialty paper.
Ink: StayzOn Black.
Cool Tools: Crystal Effects, Cherry Cobbler marker, Water Colour Wonder Crayons - Regals, Antique Brad.
Ribbon: Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon.

Well I figured it was about time I started making some Christmas cards.  I love the new Delicate Doilies stamp set and was thinking of a way to make it christmassy.  Lovely As A Tree has a great tree for xmas cards so I have combined the two here with cherry cobbler, crumb cake, old olive and early espresso.

I used Champagne shimmer paint to highlight the leaves on the tree - here is a closer view:

Stamp Sets:  Delicate Doilies, Lovely As A Tree, Teeny Tiny Sentiments.
Paper:  Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Whisper White.
Ink: Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso.

Vroom Vroom Motorcycle

I was recently asked by a friend what would be a good stamp for a card for an older boy/man.  I suggested the Motorcycle stamp in the Stampin' Up Autumn Winter/Mini Catalogue.  After singing it's praises and thinking of all the wonderful things you could do with this stamp it suddenly dawned on me - I NEED IT!   Funnily enough it was the last day of the catalogue so I managed to order one.  Phew!  I am so glad I did.  It sat on my shelf until last weekend when I found I needed to make a "masculine" card for a motorbike loving 10 yr old.  I had seen lots of cards like this one so had to give it a go.  I am really happy with how it turned out.  The (silver) metallic cardstock was embossed with the square lattice embossing folder to recreate metal plate.

Stamp Sets:  Motorcycle(Autumn/Winter Mini 2011), Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Paper:  Poppy Parade, Basic Black, Metallic Silver, Whisper White
Ink: Stayz On Black, Poppy Parade (marker)
Cool Tools:  Square lattice embossing folder, Bigshot, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Extra  Large Punch.

Showcasing the Cupcake Builder Punch & Create a Cupcake Stamp Set

Today I have been making lots of cards using the cupcake punch and stamp set.  Gotta love how these two work together!  I am aiming to create a collection of simple cards to create some inspiration for new stampers.

The first two cards are cased from one given to me by Tracy Penn, my favourite Stampin' Up Demonstrator! Her website is here: http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/tracypenn/

These were both created using Brights DSP, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight & Whisper white. The cases are stamped in Early Espresso ink. The larger square from the Scallop Square Duo Bigz Die was used as a base.

This card was made using Subtles DSP, Rose Red, Pretty in Pink & Pink Pirouette inks and cardstock. I have cased my own card from an earlier post & have added some sparkles and little pearls as well.

This card is made using the cupcake base as the basket and the topping as clouds.  The base is bashful blue embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.

And... finally a handbag card using the base of the cupcake and the scallop oval punch.  Once again I have used the large square from the Scallop Square Duo Bigz die as a base. I used Real Red, Brights DSP and Whisper White and added some rhinestones on the handbags for a bit of bling.

I would love to have a few more to add to this collection - just need some inspiration.... any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Stamp Set: Create A Cupcake, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Paper: Bashful Blue, Pretty In Pink, Rose Red, Pink Pirouette,Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Real Red, Pacific Point
Ink: Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Early Espresso, Rose Red
Cool Tools:  Big Shot Machine, Scallop Square Duo Bigz Die, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Modern Label X-Large punch, Word Window punch, Cupcake Builder punch, Scallop Edge Border punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Scallop Square punch, Small Oval punch, Circle punches - 2 1/2 " & 1 3/8" , diamontes, pearls and ribbon.

Baby Shower

Here I am again - WOW two posts in one day!  I have really missed making cards and today I was asked to make a baby shower card for a friend.  I only had a small amount of time - I really hate deadlines!!!  I would have liked to really play with it a bit more and add some ribbon and more colour but I just didn't have the time. I did pop the rompers up with dimensionals.  I knew the recipient was having a girl but I don't think she wanted others to know so I mixed it up with some blue and green.  Naww, so sad those times are over for me :(   The Slice of Life set from SU came to mind immediately - I had not used it yet so was really looking forward to it.  I dont have much "Baby style" designer paper so I had to make do with the topnote die.

I only had a half hour to come up with something so I was a bit rushed!  The little rompers are coloured with pens and the top note die was embossed with the perfect polka dots embossing folder.

Stamp Set: A Slice Of Life (Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue), Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Paper: Bashful Blue, Pretty In Pink, So Saffron, Whisper White.
Ink: Baja Breeze, Basic Black, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Pink Pirouette.
Cool Tools:  Big Shot Machine, Top Note Die, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Modern Label X-Large Punch, Word Window Punch.

Father's Day Card

Well I have finally made it back here.  It has been a while....but I managed to make 2 cards today.
The 1st is a Father's Day card just in time for this Sunday.  Masculine cards are always a challenge for me but with the Fly Fishing stamp set I cant lose.  My husband is an avid fly fisherman and cherishes anything with these scenes so I know he will love it.

The trout is clear embossed and then coloured with pens and ink.  I was trying to get a rainbow trout look which I think came out ok. It is so much nicer in real life as the embossing really makes the trout come alive and feel like it has scales.    I could have coloured water and reeds etc.. but I felt that by keeping it simple it gives the trout pride of place.

Stamp Sets:  Fly Fishing(retired), Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Paper:  Whisper White, Soft Suede, Neutrals DSP, Crumb Cake.
Ink: Soft Suede, VersaMark,
Cool Tools:  Square lattice embossing folder, Bigshot, Mat pack & Paper Piercing tool, Antique Brass Metallic brads.

Sponge Bob Square Pants Punch Art Card

My daughter is off to a Sponge Bob Square Pants birthday party tomorrow so I was forced to sit and make an appropriate card.  I remember making something similar as a bookmark many years ago.  He is punched with the Creative Memories bubble punch and raised up on dimensionals.

I have used scrap paper to piece him together but the main colours are Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Real Red, & Early Espresso.  The sentiment is from Bring On The Cake.

Pinwheel Cards

I have been trying to make my pinwheels smaller to fit a standard card.  They are really easy to make once you get the hang of them.  The pinwheel square measures 6cm x 6cm.   A small white brad holds them in place and allows them to spin.
-(1) Rose Red DSP for the pinwheels and Rose Red, Baja Breeze, Daffodil Delight.  (2) Night of Navy, Rose Red.

Stamp Set: Pendant Park(120012)
Paper: Daffodil Delight (121680),Rose Red (119945) Baja Breeze(116207), Night of Navy (106577), Subtles DSP (117152)
Ink: Rose Red (101778)

Burnt Ribbon Flower

I learn't how to make this gorgeous ribbon flower just the other day and could not wait to give it a try.  SC341 is a great sketch so I combined the two.

Here is the sketch

Nice and simple sketch to get me going today.  I used Pretty in Pink 5/8" Satin Ribbon and stuck it in a circle around a large circle I punched out.  Then I used the heat gun to melt the edges and mounted it with a lovely antique brad.  Pretty in Pink Subtle DSP and card stock were used along with Very Vanilla and Pear Pizazz.    I used the wing of the 2 Step bird Punch for the leaves as well.   The coordinating card stock was run through the Vintage Wallpaper and  Framed Tulip embossing folders for an extra special touch.

This flower could easily be made into a hat pin or brooch as it finishes quite solid.  For my purposes today it was just perfect.  I didn't use a sentiment as I will wait till I have a use for it, but it could easily be used as a Mother's Day or Wedding card.

Paper: Pretty In Pink (106568), Very Vanilla (106550) Pear Pizazz (121693), Subtles DSP (117152)
Ink: None.
Cool Tools:  Big Shot Machine, Framed Tulips Embossing Folder (121809), Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder (120175), 2 Step Bird Punch (117191), 2 1/2" Circle Punch (120906)
The Perfect Touch: Antique Brad (117273)

Squared Framed Tulip & Blossom Bouquet

Those of you who know me, know I have always loved bright colours, but have recently moved to the more subtle vintage colours.  Well I have to say - Look out she is back!  I am loving the brights at the moment!
I have to admit I didn't really liked the triple layer Blossom Bouquet Punch when I first saw it & couldn't understand what all the fuss was about.  Recently, I had the opportunity to get one of these punches from a friend in the USA and I have to say I am hooked.  I really love the versatility of it and the way it makes the flowers POP off the page.  I love the Framed Tulip embossing folder squared too.  It is so easy to do and really looks good don't you think?  I was playing around with the Blossom Bouquet punch and thought this would be a great opportunity to show off the squared tulip style.    Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight with a touch of Pear Pizazz are so vibrant and really give this trio of cards that burst of colour I have missed so much.

Here is a close up for a better look

These cards are all 11" x 11".  For the the squared tulip to work well it needs to be 10 1/2" x 10 1/2".  The square mat is 7 1/2 " x 7 1/2" and the inner white square is 7" x 7".

Stamp Set: Hello Again (117717), Teeny Tiny Sentiments (119185)
Paper: Daffodil Delight (121680), Melon Mambo (119980), Pumpkin Pie (108601), Pear Pizazz (121693)
Ink: Melon Mambo (115656)
Cool Tools:  Big Shot Machine, Framed Tulips Embossing Folder (121809), Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (117335), Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch (122464), Itty Bitty Shapes Punches (118309), Basic Hole punch and 1/16" hole punch (101227)

Musical Brithday Card

A very good friend of mine is having a birthday soon.  She is a music teacher, plays in a band and teaches my daughter ukelele when we visit.  So, there was only one choice for her card.... Music!
I hope she plays me a bit of the music that is on this paper - SU Newsprint DSP.  I have always wondered what it would sound like.

Stamp Set: Bring On The Cake ((121958)
Paper:  Very Vanilla (106550), Basic Black (121688),Newsprint DSP (117166)

Subtle Pinwheels

Pinwheels seem to be the next big thing - they remind me of the show and rides and the smells of fairy floss and donuts.  Isn't it amazing how such a little thing can bring back such vivid memories from childhood.

I made these from Subtles designer series paper and think they are kind of cute & yes they do spin!

Paper: Rose Red card stock & DSP (108613 & 117152), So Saffron card stock & DSP (108611), Marina Mist card stock & DSP (121682)
Cool Tools: Bigshot, Sizzix Pinwheel Die, 1/16" Circle punch(101227)

Russian Dolls

I have seen these nesting dolls made into beautiful cards in a papercraft magazine a while ago and had the idea in the back of my mind to make one when I got the chance.  CC328 challenge was a great colour challenge that I thought might work with these dolls.  Titled Cherry Night Cakes (Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy & Crumb Cake) it challenges you to use those colours only on a card.  I did not choose the dessert option of adding something from my kitchen as I totally forgot.
Here are my "girls"

They open up the top or side and can open up to a family of nesting dolls if you like.  These ladies have both a front and back, but no babies inside.  The lady on the left was made using some paper I had in my stash and is Non-SU.  The doll on the right is made with the "Artistic Etching" circle stamp on Whisper White.

Stamp Set:  Artistic Etching  (120573)
Paper: Cherry Cobbler (121683), Whisper White (106549), Crumb Cake(121695), Night of Navy (108606)

Bring On The Cupcakes

While I had the purple cardstock out I thought I would attempt another purple creation.  This time I used Perfect Plum and coordinating spotty Subtles DSP.   I also used a sketch SC333

Here is my card.  I used two purple colours - Perfect Plum and the other I found in my stash - not sure what it is called but it matched perfectly.   A bit of glitter here and there & some sparkly ribbon add a little sparkle.  Hmmm...... Maybe I do like purple after all!

Stamp Set:  Create A Cupcake  (121982)
Paper:  Perfect Plum (108615), Whisper White (106549), Subtles DSP (117152), Purple(non SU)

Because I Care Flower

Today I went out of my comfort zone & used purple.  Anyone who knows me knows I am not a big fan of purple and keep far away from it.  I have decided today that it's quite nice on the right card.  I  really like this stamp set. It is such a lovely flower & so classic in style.  It's a bit sad it is retiring as it is definitely one of my favourites.

Today I did my weekly card sketch :

Here is my card using Concord Crush & Because I Care Stamp set.

Artistic Etchings Gate Fold Card

Wow - I just love this stamp set!  It looks even better when it is heat embossed in black.  I have been wanting to make a gate fold card for ages, but never knew how.  My new ScorePal makes it so easy as it is all premarked for many special folding cards.  I would love to add more bling or brads but I think I will leave this one clean & simple.

This is the outside. The scallop doily is from my Nelly Snellen Doily Die.  The Love Letter DSP looks regal when I added a few circles and the crown from the artistic etching set.

The inside has the Eiffel Tower stamp heat embossed which really brings out the finer details of the stamp.

Stamp Set:  Artistic Etchings (120573)
Paper:  Very Vanilla (106550), Basic Black (121688), Ridinghood Red (116205), Love Letter DSP (117162).
Ink:  Versamark (102283) & Black Embossing Powder (109133).
Cool Tools: Heat Tool (106586), ScorePal.

Vintage Handbag

I just love these little handbags - this one is inspired by Becky Roberts (inkingidaho.blogspot.com)

Here I have used black spotted paper, black card stock and Kaiser pearl brads for the clasp.  It fits small cards inside and will make a great mothers day gift.
